Black History Month Inspiration - Darius Lovehall "A Blues For Nina" (Love Jones 1997)

Love jones was one of the first films I saw as a young person where black people were just “Cool”, not the standard stereotypical black roles that continue to this day in hollywood. Larenz Tate in the film as “Darius Lovehall” was a cool creative dude…he had good taste in music…he was a poet who performed spoken word (I had never heard of it before then)….he had a motorcycle…and his girlfriend was a photographer…and they lived in a cool city (Chicago). It was an inspiration to young me to see people that looked like I did living a creative life. Also i’m a sucker for 90’s black romantic comedies and this ranks up there as one of the best in the genre in my opinion.
